Altar Life
Meditation has been a vital piece of my daily practice since 1994. I’ve never missed a day of meditation since then. It is my anchor and literal touchstone for tapping deeply into my intuition, listening within, releasing stress and trauma, and where I go to follow the guidance and listen to what comes next.
I love my altar. My altar holds my beautiful Crystal allies and support team. They rest upon her in patient anticipation of our communion. As I meditate, I hold a crystal in one hand and often times bring a few to my lap. They most definitely enhance and support a deeper meditation experience. Each morning I ask, "who wants to work with me?" There is such clear communication. They definitely make themselves known as to who is ready to be a meditation partner, a guide, or my companion.
How do you build an altar? Well thank you so much for asking!
Building an altar is fun and it most definitely will get your creative juices flowing.
Let's begin. First, find your perfect altar. Be it a wood bench, a slab of crystal, anything, including a beautiful piece of cloth can serve as an altar space.
Next, choose your sacred objects. Crystals being the focal point. You can include a tuning fork, a sound bowl, a candle, an incense holder, crystal cards, a small journal with a pen to write down your inspirations, a vase with flowers, or perhaps a small plant. I also would suggest to include a deity that calls to you. In my case, I have Quan Yin and Buddha, as well as Ganesh.
Set up your altar however feels good and inspires you to want to be a daily visitor. In my case, I colorize my crystals so it looks like a beautifully organized rainbow.
I have quite a few altars in my home. My main altar is made of Selenite, which acts as a clearing surface for all of the other crystals that lay upon her.
I have a nourishment blessing altar in my kitchen to remind me of my connection to the Infinite while I prepare food. In my bedroom, there is a love altar to ignite the energy of love, passion, and Divine Union.
Each of these reflects the energy and the remembrance of my connection to the Sacred.
It’s important to tend to your crystals, dust them and keep them beautiful. They will thank you for it and you will feel their extra glow.
Having an altar most definitely will inspire you to meditate. Having an intentional place to go and sit that you have created with your joy and mindfulness will return the love tenfold. As we sit at our altars daily there is a potency that is palpable and will be felt every time you return to your altar; the blessings will be felt in every aspect of your life.
I have set up multiple altars around the shop. We have a love altar, a protection altar, an abundance altar, and a pure meditation altar as well.
